San Pedro Retreat -
Apu Auzangate hike
Sep 01 - 07, 2026
Experience traditional shamanic healing with San Pedro plant medicine, Kambo, Temazcal, and a sacred mountain hike. This 7-day San Pedro retreat is designed to help you release limiting beliefs, old patterns, and emotional blockages while reconnecting with your heart and inner clarity.
The program includes 3 traditional San Pedro ceremonies, guided with Andean shamanic practices and sound healing. A highlight of the retreat is a San Pedro hiking ceremony to Apu Ausangate, one of the most sacred mountains in Peru. Rising to 6,384 meters, Ausangate is revered in Andean tradition as a powerful Apu and guardian of the highlands. Its snow-capped peaks, turquoise glacial lakes, and pristine landscapes carry an energy of profound purification, vision, and transformation. Journeying here with San Pedro opens a gateway to deep release, clarity, and renewal.
In addition, you will receive one Kambo treatment for physical and energetic cleansing, and take part in a Temazcal (sweat lodge), harnessing the fire element for deep purification and realignment.
This plant medicine retreat in Peru offers a complete path of healing, restoration, and transformation for body, mind, and spirit.
San Pedro
The San Pedro ceremonies are the heart of this retreat. In these sacred gatherings, the medicine works with you to align, cleanse, and restore balance across body, mind, and spirit. Guided by traditional shamanic icaros and enhanced with sound healing practices, each ceremony invites you to journey deeply within yourself, reconnect with your heart, and ground fully into your body.
On the days between the San Pedro ceremonies, you will be supported by two powerful ancestral medicines. On the first non-ceremony day, we hold a Kambo treatment, a cleansing ritual that helps clear toxins and reset the body on a physical and energetic level. On the second non-ceremony day, you will take part in a traditional Temazcal sweat lodge, where the fire element guides a deep purification and renewal.
These complementary practices work in harmony with San Pedro, supporting your integration and amplifying the transformation of the retreat.
Hiking Ceremony – Medicine of the Mountains
One of the most unique experiences of this retreat is our San Pedro hiking ceremony, where we journey into the Andes to connect deeply with nature and its spirits. For the Andean people, the mountains are sacred beings known as Apus—guardians and teachers whose presence guides and protects.
We begin by opening the ceremony space with a sacred offering to the mountain, sharing intentions, and asking the spirits for safe passage. As we walk, we engage with the healing energy of San Pedro in combination with the raw power of the mountain. This blend pushes the psyche beyond its comfort zone, allowing space for release, transformation, and renewal.
Along the way, we pause to make Q’intu offerings—three coca leaves given in gratitude to the Apus, following the Quechua tradition. We also rest to share food and listen to icaros, the shamanic spirit songs that help guide and harmonize the ceremony.
Climbing the mountain becomes a mirror for the inner journey. The conquering of the mountain is the conquering of the self—an initiation that empowers you to reclaim your strength and step forward in life with clarity and purpose.
Auzangate Mountain
Our hike takes us to Apu Ausangate, one of the most sacred mountains in the Andes and the highest in the Cusco region at 6,384 meters. Revered for centuries as a powerful protector and energy source, Ausangate is deeply woven into Andean cosmology as a guardian of wisdom, strength, and vision.
The trail winds through otherworldly landscapes of snow-capped peaks, turquoise glacial lagoons, and colorful highland valleys. Along the way, we encounter traditional Andean communities whose way of life remains closely tied to the rhythms of the mountain and Pachamama.
Reaching Ausangate is more than arriving at a destination—it is stepping into a field of profound purification and initiation. Here, the mountain radiates an energy that cleanses, empowers, and brings clarity to the path ahead.
Journeying with San Pedro in the presence of Apu Ausangate creates a powerful union of medicine and spirit. This is not simply a hike, but a sacred pilgrimage—an initiation into the heart of the Andes, offering release, vision, and life-changing transformation.
Kambo Medicine
During our retreats, we offer an optional Kambo ceremony for those who feel called to this medicine. Kambo is often chosen to support the clearing of energetic and emotional blockages, helping participants open more fully to the healing power of San Pedro throughout the retreat.
Originating from the indigenous tribes of Brazil, Kambo is the secretion of the giant monkey frog. It is traditionally applied through small, superficial burns on the skin, allowing the medicine to enter the lymphatic system. This process supports the release of deep-seated traumas, addictions, and limiting behavioral patterns.
A Kambo ceremony lasts around two hours and is followed by time for rest and reflection, giving your body and mind space to integrate the cleansing effects before continuing with the retreat journey.
Temazcal (Sweat Lodge)
As part of the retreat, you will also experience a traditional Temazcal ceremony, an ancestral practice of purification and rebirth. Entering the sweat lodge is a symbolic return to the womb of Mother Earth, where heat, steam, and sacred songs create a powerful space for cleansing and renewal.
Guided by experienced facilitators, the Temazcal uses the elements of fire, water, air, and earth to release toxins, clear stagnant energy, and restore harmony to body, mind, and spirit. Participants often describe it as both a physical detox and a deeply spiritual reset.
The Temazcal (sweat lodge) ceremony lasts a couple of hours and is followed by time to rest, reflect, and integrate the transformation, preparing you to step back into the retreat with a renewed sense of clarity and strength.
